Founding Executive Director and Ph.D. in Education Student

I am Bradford (BJ) Yamamoto, Jr., currently the Founding Executive Director of the Aloha State Music Festival. In addition to my executive responsibilities, I am also a Ph.D. student in Education at Claremont Graduate University. My career has spanned various roles, from teaching music in Hawaii's public schools to managing nonprofit organizations and consulting in technology.

As the Executive Director of the Aloha State Music Festival, I am dedicated to advancing our mission to celebrate and enhance Hawaii's school music programs. This role involves spearheading initiatives that not only promote musical excellence but also foster educational opportunities and community engagement across the state.

My doctoral research at Claremont Graduate University focuses on arts education policy in parallel with my administrative duties. This research is driven by my commitment to understanding and advocating for the role of arts in educational systems, exploring how strategic policy changes can benefit students, teachers, and communities alike. My academic work aims to bridge the gap between educational theory and practical application, ensuring that arts education receives the attention and resources it deserves to thrive.
